Maybe it's a loose shock absorber mount.

The truck is looking good with the raised body and hope you can sort out that little knocking problem 👍🏻🇬🇧

Lars could it be the suspension unit?

I doubt banging on the shock broke anything in the portal hub. That thing's a beast! It sounds like something loose. Varg may have something with the wheel bearing adjustment. While you're there pull the wheel off and make sure the bearings and hub look OK.You may want to consider some modifications to your workshop door so you can get the SRV in there more easily.

Lars, for the knocking, I assume you grabbed everything in the suspension and gave it a good shake up and down, back and forth? It definitely sounds like something is loose or worn. Something like a bushing maybe.

Let’s fill Lars’ coffers up so he can keep these great vids coming! I will see what i can scrape up too! Every little bit helps. Just send $10 or $20 bucks if that’s all you can afford. I know i have spent a lot more on a lot less! Good luck Lars!

I feel your pain! A noise like that is annoying! It is almost like the shock has lost it’s charge. If you are positive that the shock is okay, i don’t know what it might be. Check the shock my friend. I can’t see it being anything else. Sounds like a car i had that had worn out rear struts. There’s nothing else it can be. Put another shock in and see if it disappears.

As for the noise…. Gremlins? Did you get them wet? They get angry when they're wet. If you can confirm that gremlins are not to blame, then try having someone heavy and strong push up and down on the suspension while you poke around the wheel well and try to identify the source of the noise. You can put your hand on the parts which aren't going to injure you while your large friend bounces the car up and down and feel for vibrations that go with the sound. I had a similar problem on one of my vehicles and this is the method I used to find what it was. If this method doesn't work, find a fatter friend and repeat the experiment.

The noise might come from too much force applied on the metal sheet where you have bolted the brackets. Basically, the metal sheet is thin and when you go through rough terrain, the shock absorbers push into it, crete a hump and thus this noise is created. I think is really risky and I would reinforce it before attempting a new test.

You know when someone takes his business seriously when the camo on his clothing matches the camo on the buggy, hehe. Great vid.

Sounds like a compromised upper rubber shock bushing to me ^^

I've watched this several times now and it sure sounds like the inter fender wall that the relocated shock mount is bolted to is "oil canning". Remove the shock or unbolt the shock at the bottom, tie it out of the way and do your short test drive again. If the knock is gone? then the fender wall is going to need reinforced, or a doubler installed. Now this is assuming that the knock wasn't there before the shock mount mods? This is gonna be a great small truck!! Keep at it, there's always bugs to workout with all the repairs performed and the lifted suspension at one time. I look forward to see the completed truck, ya right… I got 2 GMC's lifted, it never stops there always one more thing to make it better !!! Checking in from Wyoming in the U.S..

Hi Lars. Its hard to do a diagnostic just by watching the video, but i would say if everything is tight and fitted as it should be then the noise is pannel pop.

Yesterday Bernie told me that he has a lost twin brother. His mother told him before she died. They were seperated at birth in a hospital north of Moscow. His brother is now standing very sad in an garage somewhere east in Russia, surrounded by 362 pieces of himself. He is very cold and is about to loose all hope of a better life. He has never even heard of Bernie. Bernie says he wants to go looking for his twin brother, because when you are done with him, half of your subscribers will be like YEEEEZZZZ finally, and the other half of them will be like NOOOOOOO not already! Soooo, Bernie's idea to go looking for his twin brother is the only right thing to do to keep everyone happy. By the way, Bernie says he wants a double garage for himself and his twin brother, so they can finally be together for the rest of their life and not have to worry about rain and snow and ever being surrounded by 362 pieces of themselves again. And, of course, there has to be a moose to be dragged home. Some of your subscribers want that so badly, that they have startet watching reruns of your videos. According to rumors, one of the bigger russian bulls has volounteered to do the job. He thinks you're a good neighbor and is willing to do that to keep you and your subscribers happy. That is if your freezer is big enough for him. He refuses to be put into two freezers. That is beneath his dignity. "This is my last wish. If you can fix one big freezer for me, I am all yours", he says. "Now, bring it on".If you are a russain bull, you are russian bull. They need to be respected. The end.

I had the same knocking in my 1999 Dodge Dakota, it would pick up with speed and I replaced EVERYTHING from joints to bushings, the entire hub assembly, new sway bars and it was still there, I was going to lose my mind and then it turned out to be the caliper piston wasn't retracting because the piston was full of rust and dirt from over the years, it had warped a rotor with the heat of the grinding and caused a knock + vibration every time the wheel made a full rotationMight not be it, but it's something easy to check too

I hate those types of problems! Seems like just when you think you have it done……..trouble! Mine, the throw out bearing on the clutch went out already. I think the return spring wasn't pulling it back enough. Now I get to take it all apart again in the snow! Like you would say "That's less than awesome!"

I dont know if its been said already or not, but if you have not already id put another piece or flat steel on the other side of those bolts to reinforce it to make sure the bolts dont rip through the sheet metal on you shock bracket. Better to be safe then sorry I say, hopefully you get the new problem shorted out though, that goes with it when you modify anything there will always be something pop up that will drive you up the wall lol.

Hello LarsLooking at the right side bracket it appears to me that the top of the shock absorber body is very close to the bottom of the bracket and there is possibly just enough available travel in the rubber mounting bush of the shock absorber to allow the body to contact the bracket. Just a thought, good luck with the solution. Regards Max
